Master Wayne

Master Wayne Burley

Mr. Burley, the owner of Tri-County Martial Arts, has been studying martial arts since 1982. The primary arts Mr. Burley has trained in are Shotokan Karate, Tae Kwon Do and the Ne-Du-U-Kon-Tae Karate Kung Fu System. Mr. Burley currently holds the rank of 7th degree black belt. He is a master level instructor of the arts he teaches.

Mr. Burley holds a bachelor's of science degree in Education from Malone College and a master's of science degree in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Burley worked in the medical field for 19 yrs. with a concentration in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has been a corporate safety professional for the past several years.

Mr. Burley's true passion has been teaching the martial arts. He has taught continuously since 1984.

Mr. Burley competed in tournaments from 1983 to 2014. He competed in many PKC sanctioned tournaments as well as other local and regional tournaments including the UPMAC Circuit and the United States Kido Federation sanctioned national tournament. He finished 4th place in the PCK Nationals in fighting in 1990 and finished 1st place in Kata and fighting at a Kido Federation sanctioned national competition in 2014. In 2014 Mr. Burley also finished 2nd in the state of Ohio in fighting and 3rd in Kata in the UPMAC series for his age group.

Mr. Burley has long been known for his fighting and self-defense skills. He has taught hundreds of students over the years who have won major competitions, but more importantly to Mr. Burley, have gone on to have successful careers in engineering, marketing, finance, military service and have become productive in our society.


Dr. Gregg Andrews

Dr. Gregg L. Andrews holds the rank of 5th degree black. He began his martial arts career in the early 1970's under Grand Master Bob Chaney. He earned his 1st-3rd degree black belts from Master Steve Hindman. Dr. Andrews holds a PhD. in Sociology from Kent State University. He served as Dean and Chief Administrative officer at Kent State University Tuscarawas for nearly 20 years and was awarded Emeritus status by the Kent State University Board of Trustees in 2015. He has completed the ALICE Instructor Course through Response Option: Critical Incident Training and has conducted extensive research on active shooter incidents, profiles of active shooters, and active shooter response protocols. Dr. Andrews is also a certified ACE Self-Defense Instructor and plays an integral role in delivering the ACE brand to the clients we serve.

Bill Corn

Master Bill Corn

Master Bill Corn holds the rank of 6th degree Black Belt in Combat Hapkido. Bill has been teaching and training for over 20 years. Combat Hapkido is a self-defense system developed in Korea. Combat Hapkido focuses on areas of self-defense including striking, joint locks, takedowns, pressure points as a means to neutralize the attacker. Mr. Corn is the lead instructor for the Combat Hapkido program.

What is the schedule ?

Karate: Mon.-Thur. 6:30-7:30 pm. Combat Hapkido: Tues. 6:30-7:30 pm. Lil’ Dragon Pre- Karate: Mon.+Wed. 6:00-6:30 pm. ACE Self-Defense: Tues. 7:30-9:00 pm.

Do you offer any classes for kids ?

Yes, Mon. and Wed. 6:00 – 6:30 pm. Lil’ Dragons program for 4-6 year olds.

How many times per week can I train ?

TCMA has multiple class offerings throughout the week. Each student is expected to train at least two days per week. The student can train more often if they like as part of their monthly fee.

Do you have family discounts ?

Yes. We do offer family discounts.

Do I have to sign a contract ?

TCMA does not require a student to sign a contract. Tuition is paid the first of each month.

What does it cost to train ?

We at Wayne Burley's TCMA are very transparent with our customers relating to costs. We feel that perceived value is a better indicator of cost. Therefore once a potential client schedules a visit to see our professional facility and meets in person, all costs will be discussed. With that being said, TCMA is not the most or least expensive, however we feel we offer the best value. Call today to schedule your appointment.

Do you offer any private classes ?

Yes, Wayne Burley is available for private classes for karate or self-defense.
